This Coal Mining and Barge Operator operates an integrated coal mine (surface) and barge transportation business focused on thermal coal and limestone. In 2024, prior to its expansion via acquisition, it generated approximately ~$34M of revenue. This revenue base is supported by an estimated ~50M tons of reserves and a long-term supply contract with a utility power customer, which was recently renewed for 5 years. Additionally, there are two 5-year renewal options. The business also owns a substantial fleet of mining and material-handling equipment that is unencumbered.
The Company ships meaningful monthly tonnage of thermal coal and benefits from an experienced executive management team, engineering staff, and experienced workforce team that is expected to remain with a new owner. A key growth avenue includes consolidating smaller mine operators whose owners are approaching retirement, leveraging the Company’s existing infrastructure and customer relationships to expand volumes and extend mine life.
