Salty Dawg Pet Salon and Bakery
Business Description
Salty Dawg Pet Grooming & Bakery. This location has officially been SOLD.
If you're interested in building a NEW location...
To build a new Salty Dawg would cost about $250K plus another $50K in staffing and grand opening expenses.
I'm the Area Developer for Atlanta. If you'd like to learn more about this franchise, please just send me an email.
There is not yet a national Dog Grooming brand in franchising. Woof Gang and Scent Hound have a hundred or so stores open, but neither concept is really dominate across the country. There are a lot of other great concepts trying to expand including Salty Dawg, Sparkles, Splash and Dash, Pet Evolution.
I got into Salty Dawg because Great Clips limits their franchisees to no more than 1.5% of the system, and with 70+ salons, I'm about maxed out. I see Salty Dawg as basically the Supercuts/Great Clips/Hair Cuttery of the dog grooming industry. Similar real estate. Similar build-out. Similar marketing. Similar operations. Similar staffing.
Hair Salons (regardless of the brand) generally cost $200K to open, do $4ooK/yr in sales and earn 20% in store-level profitability ($80K/yr into $200K means a 2.5 multiple). Dog salons, IMHO, cost about $300K to open, do $700K/yr in sales and earn 15% in store-level profitability ($105K/yr into $300K means a 3.0 multiple). I also think that a top performing dog grooming salon could easily do $1M in sales and earn 20%, but I'm new to the industry and have yet to prove out those numbers.
The first Atlanta Salty Dawg is the Marietta Street location. They're doing about $13K/wk and growing at double-digits. If you'd like to learn more, please email me. And also remember, investing in a business/franchise has risk. Don't buy a business until you thoroughly understand the numbers.
