Business Description
Are you passionate about local food, farming, and authentic storytelling? Step into the role of publisher for Edible Shasta-Butte, a well-established, community-driven magazine that has been celebrating the people and places behind the region’s vibrant food culture for over 18 years.

Serving five counties of California (Butte, Glenn, Tehama, Shasta, Trinity and Siskiyous),this quarterly publication highlights the area’s rich agricultural heritage, entrepreneurial spirit, and year-round abundance of farmers markets, producers, and food artisans. With a loyal readership and a talented network of local writers, photographers, and advertisers, this is a turnkey opportunity for someone ready to make an impact and carry the legacy forward.

As the new owner, you’ll also become part of the larger Edible Communities publishing network—an award-winning collective across the U.S. and Canada—offering shared resources, revenue-generating ideas, and a powerful support system for independent publishers.

If you're ready to combine your passion for food with a purpose-driven business, Edible Shasta-Butte is ready for you.

Facilities & Assets
As this is a home business, no assets convey. We do have an archive consisting of ~20 copies of each of the 68 issues we have published. This archive conveys to the buyer.
Market Outlook / Competition
Edible Shasta-Butte is the only local food magazine in the region. Comparing us to the two general lifestyle magazines in the region, one advertiser said, "You know why I advertise in Edible Shasta-Butte? Because I know no one will tear out the pages, ball them up, and use them to start their fireplace." The magazine's aesthetic quality, as well as its subject matter, distinguishes it.
Opportunities for Growth
The previous owners worked ~100-150 hours/quarter producing a print magazine. New owners could do the same or expand work into social media, host local food events, offer tours. The community of publishers has many such projects and can offer assistance and ideas.
Key to the success of the print magazine, in addition to its quality, is advertisers. Capable, friendly, committed ad salespersons assure this success.
Some in the last decade have declared print dead. Yet beautiful, timely magazines now find committed readers and expand pages and issues.
