FACE4Kids (Fitness and Character Education for Kids) is an innovative program designed to inspire elementary school children to develop both physical fitness and strong character traits. Our mission is to nurture the holistic growth of young individuals by combining engaging physical activities with essential character education.
The program includes a unique blend of martial arts, jump rope, juggling, agility training, and public speaking, making fitness fun and accessible. Each week, FACE4Kids introduces a new character-building theme, such as respect, responsibility, and friendship, through interactive lessons and practical exercises. For instance, in the second week, students learn about the importance of friendships with the phrase, "Show me your friends, I will show you your future." In the fourth week, they discuss responsibility, hearing "Ability to respond," which teaches them to manage their actions and emotions effectively.
FACE4Kids is offered free of charge during the school day, thanks to strategic partnerships. This accessibility ensures that even students from underprivileged communities—those facing extreme poverty, high crime rates, high unemployment, and fractured homes—can benefit from the program. The positive impact of FACE4Kids is recognized by principals and teachers who see improvements in their students' lives.
Since its inception in 2003, FACE4Kids has been implemented in over 60 public-school locations in Northeast Florida and expanded to Pennsylvania in 2012. The program's success is measured through pre/post-survey data metrics in five categories: Fitness, Confidence, School Effort, Social Skills, and Behavior Choices. This data-driven approach demonstrates the tangible benefits of the program.
FACE4Kids culminates in a graduation ceremony where students celebrate their accomplishments with family, friends, administrators, classmates, and guests. By investing in FACE4Kids, supporters can make a significant difference, directly impacting the lives of 300 students and indirectly benefiting over 3,000 people within a public-school district.
