Business comes from diverse sources including people visiting friends and family, weddings, funerals, high school reunions. The B&B is also conveniently located just 30 minutes south of Colgate University, and is on the route to Colgate from downstate New York, New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. There are also a number of large events annually that draw significant numbers of visitors to Norwich, such as the Chenango Blues Festival and Colorscape arts and crafts festival. There are also people visiting Norwich for business year-round; major local employers include NBT Bank, Chenango Memorial Hospital, GE/Unison, Alvogen and Kerry Bioscience.

Market Outlook / Competition
The Splendor Inn has enjoyed a consistent level of business since the COVID pandemic. It is the only traditional B&B in the area and benefits from a diverse and loyal customer base, with high levels of repeat business.

There are three other traditional lodging establishments in the Norwich area: Red Roof Inn, Super 8 and Fred's Inn. However, these are all motel type establishments and have a poor to average rating. By contrast, the Splendor Inn has an average rating of 4.8 on Google, 4.9 on Trip Advisor, 9.8 on Expedia and 9.1 on Booking.com.
Opportunities for Growth
Events - whilst the Splendor Inn has hosted parties and baby/bridal showers, we have never promoted the B&B as an events venue. This could lead to additional revenue from small weddings, retreats, family reunions, etc.

Local businesses - due to turnover of staff in local businesses, there are always opportunities to re-engage and develop more business.

Tea Room - the current owners have not actively promoted the Tea Room for a few years due to high levels of business on the lodging side, but there remains the opportunity to grow Tea Room sales.
