Introduction

Doug started his first business from scratch in 1979 in Winnipeg, Canada, using his life savings. Fortunately the business turned out to be a hit and he went on to start several other businesses after that. Then, in 1999, he moved to Sarasota and in order to get his U.S. citizenship had to purchase a couple more businesses but during that process he realized that nobody who was showing him businesses knew anything about the businesses they were selling......why they were valued at their price, how to read financial statements or any other pertinent information. So, while operating those businesses he got into the brokerage side and eventually sold the businesses so he could focus exclusively on brokering businesses. Now he is part of the oldest & largest network of brokers across North America and selling businesses across the U.S. and Canada, from small businesses to $100 million + businesses.
