I'm Steve McKinney, Co-Founder and CEO of Bizbe — the leading AI-native business brokerage and lower middle market M&A firm built for small businesses. I didn't come up through traditional finance or banking. I built, scaled, and sold businesses myself for a decade — which means when I sit across the table from you, I have actually been where you are.
As the owner of Retty Logistics, I grew revenue from $50K to $6M in under eight months, scaled to 170 employees and 80 vehicles across three states, and was awarded contracts with Amazon, FedEx, XPO, Lowe's, and Herman Miller. I ultimately negotiated the sale of those operations — and that firsthand experience on the seller's side of the table is a big part of why Bizbe exists.
Since then, I've closed over $30M in small business transactions and built Bizbe into a multi-market firm operating across New York, Miami, and Monterrey, Mexico representing tens of millions in enterprise value. Earlier in my career, I led operations and business development at DetraPel — a hydrophobic protective coatings company I helped bring to Shark Tank, where we secured investment from Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner. Before that, I founded Broadly Media Group a leading marketing and advertising company in Massachusetts which produced thousands of pieces videography, photography, and drone content for university systems and multi billion dollar corporations.
I hold a BA in Entrepreneurial Business and Global Leadership from UMass Amherst, am a licensed Real Estate Salesperson, and am an Eagle Scout.
